Holiday Food Drive
For over 50 years, the foundation has been distributing hams and turkeys to the needy in Chicago. In 2018, we raised over $120,000 and in return were able to distribute 17,000 hams and turkeys to senior citizens and needy families during the holiday season. The effort provides food for those living on the near north, near west and near south sides of Chicago.
"Off to College" Trunk party
The Jesse White Foundation provides a “trunk” or “care package” to 500 college-bound students throughout the City of Chicago. Our goal is to prepare them physically with fundamental items so they can focus on their academics. The trunk includes items necessary for students to prepare for their collegiate career. Each student receives over 50 items, including bed linens, towels, school supplies, toiletries and more. Students are entered in a raffle to win an electronic device. Since 2015, over 160 electronic devices such as iPads, lap top computers, printers, tablets and televisions have been raffled off to lucky winners.
Job/Career Fair
The foundation hosts a Job/Career Fair, in partnership with 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr., that provides opportunities for those in the community such as employment opportunities, resource vendors, expungement services, and ID services. This year, 63 employers and 30 resource vendors participated with hundreds of job seekers in attendance. The fair is provided free of charge to the vendors.
